The Friends of the Kennebec Rail Trail offer a scenic trail for walking, running and bicycling that stretches through Augusta, Hallowell, Farmingdale, and Gardiner along the Kennebec River.  Browse our local Hallowell Area Board of trade website at www.Hallowell.org for the city’s special events.

As you will experience, the Second Street Bed & Breakfast is centrally located to many of Maine’s attractions. Hallowell is approximately one hour from the rocky coast of Maine, where guests of ours can explore communities such as Boothbay, Rockland, Camden and Belfast and only two hours from Bar Harbor featuring Acadia National Park.

We encourage our guests to embark on day journeys about central Maine and surrounding areas throughout the year, by partaking in various seasonal activities such as apple picking, picnicking, hiking, museum visiting, skiing and many other appealing activities Maine offers to guests.  If there is something specific you would like to learn about, please feel free to ask our Innkeeper!
